A
sign of recognition and a gesture of love
from the beneficiary
My name is Bakht Jahan
and I belong to village
Bari kot, District
Buner. My husband has died 20 years ago. I
have 02 Children, 01 daughter and 01 son.
My daughter Zarina is disabled by birth
and my only son Iqbal has injured foot due
to accident. Bakht Jahan Bibi said that we
were passing days in a miserable
condition. She had left her village due to
Army action against Taliban in District
Buner.
Bakht
Bibi had passed 18 days in a same place
outside the village and after 18 days she
reached Col Sher
Khan Village
via
Mardan and Swabi. There she lived in
Akbar khan’s house with 02 children. They
passed every day in very
difficulties.
She said one day Sungi
assessment team visited
Col. Sher
Khan Village
to
assess their requirements. Bakht Bibi
gladly told that she received Rs.8000/-
from Sungi Development Foundation. Out of
Rs.8000/- she spent some money on their
medicines because she was sick and daily
needs. She told that major amount is to
use for arranging transports while going
back to her
village.
IDPs
of Mardan arranged a Press Conference to thank
Sungi
On August 09,
2009 a group of representatives of IDPs
consisting almost 80 persons went to Takht
bhai, Mardan Press Club and gave a self
styled press briefing to the journalists
about the work and commitment of Sungi
Development Foundation.
They
urged that Sungi is the only organization in
the area with ultimate transparent and
commitment.
They
asked that all organizations and government
should make their relief efforts free of
involvement of any external element. Sungi
is the example to be followed which staff is
working day and night tirelessly and
providing support at our door step. They
praised the methodology of Sungi and the
behavior of staff since they are dealing
with the affecties in a very cordial and
kind way.
The noticeable
point is that these IDPs had arranged this
press conference as their own initiative
to say thanks to Sungi and not a single
staff member of Sungi was aware of it till
the event was over.
They
handed over a video of this conference to
Sungi after the event and said that "Sungi
has made a permanent place in our hearts and
we wanted others to know it".
They
mentioned that some influential people tried
to cash the huge activities of Sungi for
their own interests but thanks to Sungi
staff who denied every un-fair
access.
The discussion
between IDPs and Press Club members is
listening worthy since they have defended
Sungi just like their home member or a
kind
friend.
Two
National level newspapers i.e. Daily Express
and Mashriq have reported the event. All
IDPs went to the press club without
informing journalists. Only the president of
press club and some others were available at
the occasion. Pictures were also not taken
and fortunately they had made an amateur
video of the occasion which is a good
document.
