Celebration of International Women’s Day

Equal Rights for women demanded by Participants during Seminar on International Women Day organized by Sungi Development Foundation, Haripur

Sungi Development Foundation has celebrated International Women’s day with full zeal and zest on 8th March 2019 at Banazir Bhutto Hall District Haripur. Event was organized with the collaboration District Social Welfare & Women Empowerment and other Civil Society Organizations. To celebrate women’s achievements and to highlight the issues faced by them, a large number of women and men representing different segments of the society came together for celebration of IWD. 8th March is internationally celebrated as the “International Women’s Day”. “It is an important occasion for all of us to pause for a moment to reflect on ourselves, to appreciate how much has been done and what more needs to be done in the field of gender equality in our society and in our country at large said by Mr. Shahid Aziz during the seminar opening remarks of the semiar.

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Zahid Parvez Warriach was the chief guest of the event. Miss Gull Bano Assistant Commissioner Khan Pur, DEO Sameena Altaf, District Social welfare officer, representatives of Civil society Organization, Tehsil Nazim Haripu , Media Persons and huge number of women and girls attended the event. Through key speaker speeches during the seminar, the participants demanded an end to violence against women; legislation that protects the rights of women and transgender persons; minimum wage and other legal protections for the informal sector; Participants stressed that we all should give respect women in all field of the life, we should take start from our home where we have spent most of our time. Speakers said that women are very much powerful we just need to give them environment where they can rise together and explore their skills.
At the end of the program DC Haripur Mr Khalid Pervez Warriach distributed the shields provided by SDF among the event organizer and women activists.
