A Reflective Journey through Sungi’s Interfaith Initiatives
World Interfaith Harmony Week, observed annually during the first week of February, stands as a testament to the global commitment to promoting peace and social cohesion. This significant event aims to bridge gaps between diverse religious communities and promote understanding among people of different faiths.
In alignment with the spirit of World Interfaith Harmony Week, Sungi development foundation organizes various events to celebrate this occasion. Among these are Faith Exchange Visits and dialogues conducted at both the Village Forum (VF) and District Forum (DF) levels. These initiatives serve as platforms for open discussions and exchanges of ideas, fostering a sense of unity and cooperation among participants.
As part of the Aawaz II program by the British Council, Sungi Development Foundation recently orchestrated an impactful interfaith exchange visit in District Abbottabad. This event played a crucial role in providing participants with a unique opportunity to engage in constructive conversations about local issues related to social cohesion. Attendees shared insights on how individuals can actively contribute to enhancing the inclusion of minorities within their respective communities.
The diverse group of attendees included representatives from Aawaz II District, Village Forum members, the District Interfaith Harmony Committee, and the local community. Notable figures such as Additional Deputy Commissioner Relief Rabia Sajjad Abbasi, District Khateeb Abdul Wajid, Molana Shakeel Jameet UlmaI Slami, Mufti Jaffar Tiyar, Pastor Rafiq, Father Nasir William, Zakar Paul, along with DF Members, VF Members (representing both minority and Muslim communities), SIG PWDs & TGPs, and numerous government officials actively participated in the exchange visit.
The discussions during the event were comprehensive, delving into the intricacies of the informational visit focused on promoting harmony. In a ceremony filled with shared perspectives, participants highlighted both the religious and social aspects of social harmony in their speeches. The emphasis was on the collective commitment to working collaboratively for the development of the country.
