Water Conservation is the need of the time; even colours and canvas are sensitizing minds. An Awareness Campaign, Poster and Painting Competition was organized at the University of Okara by Sungi Development Foundation under the CF-WRAP Project, in collaboration with Oxford Policy Management (OPM) and with the support of UK International Development.

The event, moderated by Ms. Humaira Yousaf (Social Mobilization Officer), focused on climate resilience, water conservation, nature-based solutions, and groundwater harvesting in District Okara. The proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by welcome remarks and a project briefing by Mr. Shahid Khan, highlighting the scope and objectives of the CF-WRAP Project.

Technical insights on nature-based solutions were shared by Mr. Dilshad (Director Hydrology, Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources), while Prof. Muhammad Shafique (University of Okara) emphasized the importance of groundwater harvesting for climate resilience. Engineer Dr. Professor Mr. Sajjad Mubeen, Vice Chancellor, University of Okara, appreciated the installed infrastructure in Okara.

Later, Mr. Usman Kirmani from Oxford Policy Management (OPM) briefed participants on the background and objectives of the project and appreciated the performance of the Sungi Team Okara.

The session concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Mr. Zakir Sial, Director, Irrigation Department, emphasizing coordination, community ownership, and the sustainability of such initiatives. Mr. Abid from the Irrigation Department also participated in the event.

Every drop conserved today builds resilience for tomorrow.
